Why? The gin rickey is a good choice for the "new gin drinker". This book is based from the perspective of a high school kid. While I debated between both a non-alcoholic drink (again - high school) and a shot (because I'd be taking shots if there was a pending alien invasion), I settled on a drink whose ingredients you'd likely find in your parents' bar at home.
